This week I'm highlighting Lisan Douglas (@d_lisan) is all around athlete. Her strength does stop in the gym but also bringing awareness to some of the injustices in the Black community.
When did you start your fitness journey or started training? |
Fitness has been my lifestyle for as far back as I can remember. I competed in track and field in high school, college, and a briefly as a professional. When I stopped running I started to CrossFit around 2012/2013 . CrossFit filled to competitive I needed, after years of doing crossFit I was approached about doing weightlifting. I love being STRONG and olympic lifts, so of course I said yes. My focus has been weightlifting since. I absolutely love it!!!
Favorite module of training?
I love cleans any and all cleans. My coach provides me with great programs that allow me work on my weaknesses and excel at my strengths.. Thanks Jordan!!!
What are the most rewarding things you've achieve since your journey?
Other than some amazing PRs, competing in my first Olympic Weightlifting Competition. I've been lifting for years but I still had some doubts but Im glad my awesome training group convince me to give it a try.
What lesson(s) have you learned this past year?
I've learned its really mind of matter. Ho we think can hold us back from some much in all aspects of life. I'm still learning to not be so harsh on myself, I can be my biggest critic but also remember to be my number one love.
How does lift heavy make you feel?
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!!! Like Queen of the Weights and I reign supreme.
It's great to see a platform for women that look like me. I have always been the one and only in many almost all spaces. This platform is amazing and I hope others feel the amazing embrace that I did.
